They have played on the Holocaust and successfully portrayed themselves as perpetual victims, which has given them a cloak behind which they have been able to commit many crimes with impunity. The Israeli nuclear weapons program is only one case in point. There is no other nation in the world who would have been permitted to create such a program under subterfuge, and while refusing to sign the NPT or allow inspection of its arsenal. This tiny, crazy nation has in its possession the power to destroy the planet, and no one blinks an eye. If Israel is a monster beyond control, is the situation hopeless? Or maybe what is needed is a different leadership in the UN, or in the US - leadership which is not afraid to pull the monster's teeth.
