I was also saddened and frustrated when I read that Gordon Brown had said
“… Aggressor states that refuse to obey the laws of the international community” have to be confronted. Iraq was a “serial violator of the rules of the international community.”

So I am pleased to see a well-known and respected commentator as yourself pointing out the logical and moral inconsistency in Brown’s approach to Iraq then and Israel then and now. V
iz, as you write “…that for 62 years the Zionist state of Israel has been, and continues to be, the biggest single violator of international law. No state on Planet Earth has been allowed to get away with defying UN resolutions for so long.”

It still intrigues me how it can be that successful, influential and historically important politicians with obvious intelligence such as Blair and Brown can either not see the contradiction themselves, or think that we the public will not notice it!

Any thoughts on that Alan?

As long the politicans will make foreign Policies of a country based upon fire power that particular country has,it would be foolish to expect a world free of events that we do not want to see or read.
Like it or not Those who enjoys these powers will have to set the rule for others to follow.
