THE DANGER OF MEDIA COMPLICITY IN ZIONISM’S SUPPRESSION OF THE TRUTH OF HISTORY
As a former ITN and BBC Panorama correspondent, I am often asked how I explain the Western mainstream media’s preference for Zionist mythology as opposed to the truth of history (as it relates to the making and sustaining of what used to be called the Arab-Israeli conflict). I address this question, quite explicitly, in the Prologue to Volume Two, recently published, of my book Zionism: The Real Enemy of the Jews.
In the year or so since Volume One of this book was published, I’ve learned how difficult it is to get the truth of history to the citizens of nations. The truth to which I am referring is, of course, that which relates to Zionism’s colonial enterprise – the creation of modern Israel by terror and ethnic cleansing, and how the Zionist state became a threat not only to the peace of the region and the world, but also to the best interests of Jews everywhere and the moral integrity of Judaism itself.
I’ve also come to a conclusion about why the media and politicians believe, wrongly in my view, that this truth is dangerous and should be suppressed.
The short story of my struggle to prevent the complete suppression of Zionism: The Real Enemy of the Jews, and the informed and honest debate it was written to make possible,can be told in two paragraphs.
As I noted in the Acknowledgments of Volume One, my literary agent had messages of rare praise for my manuscript from CEO’s of some of the conglomerate-owned publishing houses. One described my work as “awesome? driven by passion, commitment and profound learning.” That letter added, “There is no question it deserves to be published.” But no publisher, major or minor, was prepared to take this book on. So I set up my own publishing company. I was not supposed to be able to get access to the closed world of the retail book trade. I did, here in the UK, but?
To sell well through the retail trade, books need publicity. The prime provider of it for the general reading public is the media, but not in the case of this book. Not one newspaper or magazine and not one radio or tv programme was prepared to give my book any attention, review or other. The media’s complicity in the suppression of the truth of history, and the betrayal of democracy, proved to be rock solid.
The question arising is something like this: Why, really, is the media so frightened of coming to grips with the truth of history?
On public speaking platforms to date I have given two answers. One is that editors who are hostages to commercial pressures fear that if they offended Zionism too much, they would be punished by the withdrawal of advertising, which in terms of lost revenue would be catastrophic for many if not all newspapers. The other (and this applies to media people in general, excluding only those who peddle Zionism’s line) is that they don’t want the hassle of being accused of anti-Semitism. The false charge of anti-Semitism is the blackmail card which the obscenity of the Nazi holocaust enables Zionism to play to silence criticism of its self-righteous and aggressive child, Israel, and to suppress informed and honest debate about who must do what and why if the countdown to catastrophe for all is to be stopped.
But the main motivation for the complicity of many if not all publishers, editors and politicians in the suppression of the truth of history is their unspeakable belief that the truth about the nature and behaviour of the Zionist state of Israel, “a terrorist state like no other”, could provoke Holocaust II, shorthand for another great turning against Jews everywhere. (The description of Israel as “a terrorist state like no other” is that of Dr. Oren Ben-Dor, an Israeli who teaches the philosophy of law and political philosophy at the University of Southampton. It was taken from article of his which was published by The Independent on 26 July 2006, two weeks into Israel’s latest war on Lebanon, under the headline Who are the real terrorists in the Middle East?)
I am driven by a totally opposite belief that the only way to stop the monster of anti-Semitism going on the rampage again in a foreseeable future if Zionism continues to have its way, is by telling the truth of history, to show, among other things, why it is wrong to blame all Jews for what a minority of have done and are doing, in the name of Zionism, in Palestine that became Israel.
