Zionism’s Colonial Enterprise Is Doomed, but…

When I talked about him in the major capitals of the world to diplomats with the prime responsibility for crisis managing the Middle East, I said that if I was putting together a world government with 20 portfolios, he would have several of them, on account of his experience, his intellect, his wisdom and his humanity. In private conversations with me he did not display even a hint of the insufferable self-righteousness that is the hallmark of Zionism. He is without arrogance. For about two decades he was the head of research at the Directorate of Military Intelligence. In that capacity he was the single most informed man in the world on the reality or not of the Arab military threat to Israel’s existence. Then, in 1973, he was called upon to become DMI, with a brief to make sure there could never again be an intelligence failure of the kind that had occurred in the countdown to the Yom Kippur war. He was, in short, the man to whom the government of Israel turned for salvation in the aftermath of what it perceived at the time, wrongly, to be a real threat to the Zionist state’s existence. He did not want to become DMI and did so only out of a sense of duty. Over coffee one morning in early 1980, I took a deep breath and said to Shlomo: “I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s all a myth. Israel’s existence has never ever been in danger.” Through a sad smile he replied, “The trouble with us Israelis is that we’ve become the victims of our own propaganda.”

I know from my own experience of reporting from Israel how that happened. When I was writing my long chapter on the 1967 war, I found myself saying to readers that there were times, this was one of them, when I wanted to “cry out with the pain of knowing how much Israel’s Jews (as well as the Jews of the world and the whole of the Western world) had been lied to and deceived by their leaders.”

Simply stated, most Israeli Jews have been brainwashed; and it seems to me that the “madness” in Israel will last and take the region and possibly the whole world all the way to Armageddon unless… Unless a way can be found to open Israeli eyes and minds to the truth of history as it relates to the making and sustaining of the conflict in and over Palestine that became Israel.

I dare to suggest that the publication of my book in Israel, in Hebrew as well as English, would be a good start.

Question: Is there in Israel a publisher with the integrity and courage to take my book on?

Alan, if an Israeli publisher took on your book you can be sure that it would be only because they would publish it as a sop to the collective conscience of Israeli society. Writers such as Amira Hass and Gideon Levy are published as fig leaves behind which Zionism can hide while the Israelis can point to them as evidence of their “open mindedness.” Oh well, I guess it’s better than not getting published at all…

  2. rosemary spiota:

thanks alan. I had read Roger Tucker’s article and it gave me the only positive signal of the last few years, though it seemed like an impossible dream. It certainly seems that there cannot be two states, and the Israeli mindset, hardened by the “education” of their children, cannot allow equality in one state. it is as if they feel they are so unlovable that they must be alone against the world, while expecting all other countries to avoid any anti- Israel actions or even comments. I have just read Uri Avnery’s latest post (in counterpunch tomorrow I expect). Worthwhile as usual. All the best

  3. Nicole:

Thank’s Alan for this great paper. The question I do have, reading it concerns the diaspora. I am french and suffer quite a lot of the difference existing between the texts we can read in English and the ones in French. I feel France as a deeply infiltrated country, so deeply that I question myself concerning the way things can change in Israël if they don’t change at the same time in the diaspora.
There is the situation in the Middle East, and the way the whole world is dominated by zionism. This, to my point of view is quite a huge problem, which need solutions.
For example in France, if you have a conflict which involves some zionist person or company, you can make a complaint…but in the court-house, some insiders can block it quite a long time, even laugh at you when you call and ask about the way it evolves.

  4. Fakhri:

    Dear Alan,
I refer to your quote of Golda Meir’s on your Panorama
programme. You mentioned that you did that when she was Israel’s
prime minister. She was also prime minister during the
October ’73 war, and I guess your interview was before
that war.In support of your theory and of her(Golda’s)
exposition, I remember reading about some intelligence
reports two years after the war, that on the second and
third days of that war some hectic activity was noted
at two sites in Israel- Aylaboun and Haifa- both believed
to be storage and launch sites, respectively, for Israel’s
undeclared nuclear war-heads.What must have happened
then is anybody’s guess, but that activity would have
been very true of Golda’s line of thinking.

  5. Bob:

I realise Zionist propaganda has been very successful in brainwashing people, especially many Jews. The hope is that Jews within Israel get tired of living by the sword. If one is not a sociopath, this must be very stressful living like this. It seems from videos from Israel those who are the most rabid hotheaded Zionists are themselves immigrants from the USA, Europe and Russia.

I’m a member of the South African Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities.

At its inaugural meeting at the International Convention Center in Durban one woman at prayer time (and every one of the many religions got a turn so it took a while) said this:

“If the people attending this Conference take away with them just one thing – ‘The God in my heart is the same as the God in yours ‘ we will have had a good beginning”

  9. Geltmeister:

I read most of the Israeli media because they are often less guarded and more critical of their government than any Western media outlet would ever dare to be.

Reading the comments posted there in response to stories about Israeli crimes and misdemeanours, however, it is clear that as long as Israeli citizens hold false and inaccurate views of themselves, their history and their country there will never be peace for them. Israelis are brainwashed from birth in all manner of race supremacy notions and a Talmudic theology that is blatantly the antitheses of a modern, progressive and democratic society. Israelis minds have been trapped in a state of fear, hatred and contempt for the lives of all others.

No one can reason with such a mind-set. It is for this reason that Israel will disappear in time, not because of some non-existent Iranian bomb or Hamas terror weapons or Western humanitarian aid ships but their own blatant mendaciousness. They sow the seeds of their own destruction.
